Missoulian Obituary

MISSOULA — Judy Louise Scott, 67, of Missoula, left the body on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, after a long struggle with Lewy Body disease.

Judy was born in Missoula to Hartley and Betty Lou Scott. Her earliest memories were of playing in Greenough Park and climbing nearby Mount Jumbo. At Hellgate High School class of 1968, she distinguished herself as editor of the yearbook and the school newspaper. She was a delegate to the Model U.N. and a member of the speech club.

She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism at the University of Montana and went on to work for the UM Alumni office. In 1969 she married Jim Hensel and had two sons, Brian and Cody. As public relations officer for Missoula County Public Schools she touched the lives of children and adults through her work with adult education and the annual parenting conference which she organized.

In 1999 she married Paul Harte. Their honeymoon in Europe was one of many adventures. Together they made a music video which won a national award for public relations. Later in her career she was director of marketing at Alma College in Michigan and a writer/editor at Oregon State University.

She had a passion for watercolor painting: impressionistic images inspired by nature. Judy was a very spiritual person and yoga played a key role in her life. The words she wanted to be remembered by were “I’m always with you in Spirit.”

She made many friends from Oregon to Michigan. She leaves behind sisters Holly Stetson and Karen Teitmeyer and brother Todd Scott, sons Brian and Cody Hensel and their families and husband Paul Harte.
