Capt. Lyle Allen Brunner 32, died Thursday, Dec 16, 1982 in the crash of a B-52 at Mather Air Force Base, while on a training flight. He spent the first 7 years of school in Bainville Mt. He moved to Msla in 1962, graduating from Hellgate High in 1968. On March 13, 1971 he married Katherine Diane Anderson. He rec'd his Air Force ROTC wings Dec. 7, 1973 from the UofM, and a masters degree in business from Gonzaga University in Spokane in 1982. He began active duty in the Air Force in July 1974. At the time his death he held the rank of Captain Radar Navigator Instructor and was stationed at Castle Air Force Base, CA. Lyle is survived by his wife, Kathy, and two children, Jason Brunner and Angela Brunner. His Parents Elroy and Marge Brunner (Elroy now deceased in Sunset ceme) 2 brothers, Roy Brunner Jr. and Donald Brunner. 3 sisters, Lucy Styles of Laurel Mt. Shirley Murphy and Vicky Lee both of Msla. and his grandmother Erna Brunner of Plentywood Mt. He is preceded in death by an infant brother Daniel Brunner in 1954. Pallbearers were Elroy Brunner Jr. Donald G. Brunner, R.L. "Bud" Anderson, Clayton Christofferson, Staff Sgt, Don Ferguson and Capt. Dean Hodgson. Honorary pallbearers will be John Gilman, Robert Preston and Bernie Patterson. My brother Lyle was killed doing what he loved to do. We miss him and cherish the memories he gave us while we had him.
