PHOENIX – Larry L. Geesey, 63, passed away in Phoenix on May 27, 2014. Larry was born to George and Phyllis Geesey in Missoula on July 3, 1950, and he attended Hawthorne Grade School and Hellgate High. He lettered in football, basketball and track before graduating from Hellgate in 1968.

Larry demonstrated his devotion to country as a youngster by earning the Boy Scouts “God and Country” Award, and later when he joined the Navy in 1970, where he became a member of the Underwater Demolition Team 21 of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. He attended Montana and Montana State, and he worked on oil rigs after completing courses with IMCO Services in Texas.

Larry was a kind, honest and a straight-shootin’ guy, who could make you laugh until it hurt. Even though he was raised in Montana and his heart was in the Big Sky Country, Larry preferred warmer climates, but he always kept in touch with his family. He will be missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his father George Geesey and mother Phyllis (Yonce) Geesey. He is survived by sisters Sharyn Skyles of Missoula and Bonnie (Tom) Donovan of Great Falls; two nieces in Iowa, Shawn Heichel and Dawn Dee Skyles-Elmer; as well as great-nieces and great- nephews Rachelle, Bradlee, Tayler, Tanner and Angelyna.
